Yesterday the daughter of a very close friend turned 4 years old. She's an adorable girl who loves to pretend to serve everyone coffee and icecream in her play kitchen. For her birthday I made this crochet birthday cake. I hope she will have a lot of fun with it.
The pattern for the cake can be found in "Amigurumi Two" by Ana Paula Rimoli (I altered her design for the candle on top; instead of just one candle I made 4 smaller ones in different colours)

For my second art journal page I played aroind with my new Panda oil pastel crayons. As a toddler crayons were my favourite drawing tools in kindergarten I remember. I think I loved the bold greassiness of it and the bright colours that always made me happy.
I found a chinese saying in the dutch magazine Flow that says: If you cannot be a star at the skies, be a light in your home. This wisdom really hit home for me as I struggle with my health which brought my writing ambitions to a screeching halt. So now I have to find my purpose closer to home. Doesn't make you any less important!

I started an art journal. First only pencil drawings but today I stocked up on paint, brushes and other artsy stuff. This is my first page done with my new materials. As I'm quite a perfectionist but not really good at drawing and painting, I thought I'd make it my theme to remember you learn as you go along. It's about having fun and being creative, not becoming the next Van Gogh!

I wish I wasn't allergic to cats. I would love to have a tabby, name here Minerva McGonagall and curl up together on the sofa with a blanket, a book and some hot tea. Bliss

Soon I will move away from the town I was born and grew up in. My mother already suffers from 'empty nest syndrome' and I haven't even left yet! To ease the pain I've made a booklet with vouchers she can cash in to spend time with me. Each voucher offers a special activitiy we can do together, like: a walk in the Asserbos, tea & apple pie at Granny's, a day of shopping or gardening et cetera. All activities my mother and me like to do together. I made the booklet with different colored origami paper and decorated them with stamps from the Flow magazine stationery set. I gave the booklet to my mother for mothersday.

My current wallpaper on my laptop. Made by the Dutch paper cutting artist Geertje Aalders who also designs for my favourite magazine Flow. This wallaper is a free download. I love Geertje Aalders' style and theme, particular her birds and flowers.

I love taking pictures. Especially of nature, especially especially flowers. This beautiful rose is called New Dawn and grows in the garden of my future home. I feel pretty
